From the moment we brewed our first pot of coffee we knew something was off with this coffee maker. The coffee tasted and smelled off, a strange stale plastic-y smell. We cleaned it, changed the water, bought new coffee, bought better coffee, tried filtered water, cleaned it again, and then cleaned it again. The coffee smells and tastes awful. After doing some online research we finally understand the problem: it's the plastic heating up and subsequently leaching into the water. Nasty. Does the coffee maker work? Sure, it mechanically does everything it should in a timely manner. It just makes undrinkable coffee and stinks up the entire room while it's at it.

bought 6 weeks ago. went on the fritz for days and then all of sudden light pops on. unplugged hoping to reset it. Worked like a charm for a few more days. Now on the fritz again. Weird. I don't recommend this brand, as I saw someone else had same problem.
